Gravitec Experts Say: PenSafe's Kwicklock High Strength Aluminum Scaffold Hook is a relatively new carabiner on the market. It has a little bit of everything. Aluminum cuts down on the weight and the Ovalock gate meets ANSI Z359 requirements with a 3,600 lb. (16 kN) gate. A 2" gate opening is always desirable and the option for a captive eye pin really rounds out the features of this carabiner. The Ovalock gate design increases the wall thickness of the gate which enables this carabiner to have a 3,600 lb. gate. This is a great safety feature for those times when the gate inadvertently comes into contact with the surrounding structure. The only cons to this carabiner are concerns about corrosion and the durability of aluminum. Like other aluminum carabiners, this is a good choice for personal-issue equipment or dedicated rescue systems.
