The recently approved ANSI/ASSE Z359.7-2011, "Qualification and Verification Testing of Fall Protection Products," American National Standard sets out requirements for qualification and verification testing of ANSI/ASSE Z359 Fall Protection Code products.

Manufacturers will have 12 months to meet the testing practices detailed in the Z359.7 standard from the date of release. After that time, products bearing a Z359 marking or representing as being in compliance with any ANSI Z359 standard must meet the minimum requirements of the both the Z359.7 standard and the associated product standard.

The new standard specifies the use of an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory for verification and qualification testing of fall protection equipment. It also outlines proper procedures and documentation practices for the testing of fall protection equipment.
